オンディーヌとは、水の精のこと。このバレエでは、オンディーヌが人間と恋に落ちてしまったために起こる悲劇が描かれます。神秘の森で戯れるオンディーヌ。そこへ偶然訪れた人間の騎士パレモンは一目で恋に落ち、2人は結ばれます。しかし、町には彼を慕っている女性がおり、紆余曲折を経て、パレモンは彼女と結婚してしまいます。そして精霊界には、心変わりした相手の命を奪わなくてはならないという掟があるのでした……。

The name Ondine means a water nymph. This ballet tells a tragedy caused by Ondine’s falling in love with a mortal.
Ondine was playing in the mysterious woods. Palemon, a mortal knight, encountered her there and the two immediately fell in love. However, there is another woman in town who he has been courting and who loves him, too. After twists and turns of the story, eventually Palemon marries the woman. To abide by the rule of the nymphs, Ondine must kill Palemon who deserted her…

主演を務めるのは吉田都。彼女はロイヤル・バレエの最高位であるプリンシパルを長く務め、退団後もゲスト・プリンシパルとして定期的に舞台に招かれている日本が誇るトップ・ダンサーです。その彼女の中でも特に当たり役と言われたのがこの作品。彼女のみが表現し得る、水の精としての可憐さや神秘性の味わいを是非ご堪能下さい。また、結婚式でのディヴェルティスマン（様々な踊り）の迫力や、男性陣の華麗なテクニックの数々も見物です。
